The community of Stumm is located at an elevation of 556 m and consists of the districts of Stumm, Ahrnbach, Acham, and März. It is across from Kaltenbach in the middle Zillertal and has an eventful history: in the 8th century, goods were donated in this area to the Herrenchiemsee monastery of Duke Tassilo III of Bavaria, and it later developed into the "Hofmark Stumm" over the following centuries. It changed owners several times over the course of time.
Today, Stumm is the 2nd smallest community in the Zillertal and is a popular and peaceful vacation town. We recommend taking a walk through the town: the village square of Stumm is considered the most beautiful village square in Tyrol! It is often used as a backdrop for theatrical performances, since the church, castle, and village fountain provide a picturesque background.
Our hotel guests who are interested in culture will certainly want to visit the late Gothic parish church of Saint Rupert. During the expansion of 1772, it was decorated in a Baroque style and today still shows the ceiling frescoes and reliefs from the mid-18th century. You can also visit the Stumm Castle: it is located in a lush park in the village of Stumm. Built in the mid-16th century, you can visit the outside of the castle.
