The Zillertal and its name
The Zillertal gets its name from the Ziller river: it flows through the valley from the south to the north and runs into the Inn near Strass im Zillertal. More specifically, the Zillertal extends from Strass to Mayrhofen and branches into 4 side valleys (Zillergrund, Zemmgrund, Stilluptal, and Tuxer Tal). Near Hotel Riedl in Kaltenbach is the well-known and popular Hochfügen-Hochzillertal area.
The Zillertal mountains
The Zillertal is surrounded by numerous 3,000 meter high summits and by the grandiose mountains of the Zillertal Alps, foothills of the Tux Alps, and the Tux main ridge. Awaiting you in a wonderful, diverse landscape are one-of-a-kind views - for example from the highest point in the Zillertal, the Hochfeiler (3,509 m). Over an area of 1098 km² and a length of 32 km, Tyrol's holiday region offers great recreational possibilities and opportunities for an active vacation!
Zillertal Arena
The Zillertal Arena is a place well-known to probably every winter athlete. The Zillertal Arena winter sports area is the largest ski area in the Zillertal - with 143 km of slopes up to an elevation of 2500 m and more than 50 lifts that can transport over 85,000 people per hour.

In summer on the Zillertal's 10 summer lifts, you can soar up to lofty heights and experience pure mountain enjoyment. 1400 km of hiking paths, 1200 km of bike routes, and 150 staffed huts guarantee fun and variety during a Zillertal summer!
